Charles Cummings was a toy inventor who created the Baby Alive doll and the Easy-Bake Mini-Wave Oven.Cummings began working for the toy giants Kenner in 1968, and within a few years, he had created the iconic Baby Alive doll.

The doll came with a bottle, a spoon, and diapers, and specially made food packets for her could be mixed with water and “fed” to the doll, moving through the doll to become waste in her diaper.

The popular doll was later released with new features including teething and speech. Cummings also patented an innovation to Kenner’s Easy-Bake Oven, perfecting a quick-cooking design using a single incandescent lightbulb.
