Cervical cancer could become 'rare disease' as HPV vaccine 'cuts rates by 90%'

The real world data shows that so far the NHS human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme has saved hundreds of women's lives as well as preventing thousands from developing pre-cancerous cells.
The study - funded by Cancer Research UK - found that rates of cervical cancer in the HPV vaccinated were 87 per cent lower than in those unvaccinated.
The research considered the risk in those vaccinated between the ages of 12 and 13 - with these women now in their 20s - and concluded that case numbers dropped from 50 per year to just five.
