Candlelit tributes paid to Scots army medic Brodie Gillon killed in Iraq

Candlelit tributes have been paid to a Scots army medic who was killed in a rocket attack in Iraq earlier this month. Lance Corporal Brodie Gillon, from Ayr, tragically died alongside two US soldiers when 18 rockets struck the Camp Taji base on March 11.

The 26-year-old was the first British woman to be killed in Operation Shader - a British non-combat mission to train Iraqi troops in fighting and saving lives.

Brodie’s family urged people to light candles on her own as a touching way of paying tribute to her.Dozens of people took to the Twitter using the hashtag #shinebrightbrodie to mark their respects.
