Steve Bouquet, 54, launched a string of sickening attacks on 16 beloved pets before he was finally caught after being captured on CCTV.

During a trial at Hove Crown Court, which Bouquet did not attend, jurors heard accounts from several cat owners who had found their pets bleeding on their doorsteps.

Over a period of seven months from October 2018, the former Royal navy gunner killed nine cats - Hendrix, Tommy, Hannah, Alan, Nancy, Gizmo, Kyo, Ollie and Cosmo - and injured seven more.
