BREAKING: Murder inquiry launched and man arrested after death of a two-week old baby in Heywood

in Heywood. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) say they were called last Friday, January 8, to the hospital regarding concerns over a baby girl.

She then died on Monday, January 11.A post-mortem examination is due to take place this week the force said.A murder investigation has been launched.A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.GMP say investigations are ongoing with a scene likely to remain in place for several days.

Detective Chief Inspector Carl Jones, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “This is a desperately sad incident where a baby girl has lost her life and we are doing what we can to support her loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
