Police and paramedics were called to the smash on King Street at around 9.15pm last night. A motorbike collided with a car, police said.

The pillion passenger of the bike, a 38-year-old man, was treated at the scene by paramedics. He was then taken to hospital where he has life-changing leg injuries.

The rider of the bike, a 31-year-old man, turned up at hospital later with injuries to his leg and ankles. The driver of the car, which the M.E.N understands to have been a Mercedes, remained at the scene to assist police.
