Strictly Come Dancing star Nikita Kumzin has spoken out about his fears for his grandmother who is currently in Ukraine. The professional dancer, who made his debut in the BBC dance competition last year, appeared on ITV's Lorraine on Thursday to talk about what his own family is facing and how people can help.

Nikita, 24, was born in Ukraine but he and his family moved to Italy when he was nine years old. However, his grandmother remains in the country. He explained it was 'relatively quiet' overnight but in context, this meant they were only woken three times by loud bangs and hear air raid sirens a couple of times.

Rohit also spoke about the incredible spirit of people not leaving the country's capital city. Going on to speak to Nikita, Lorraine commented how it was 'very strange' to be speaking to him in such different circumstances to when he appeared on her self-titled show last year during Strictly. "The future was very bright and now here we are," the host, 62, said. "You must be so worried about your family..." "It's absolutely heartbreaking," Nikita admitted.
