PAISLEY DAILY EXPRESS: Live news as it happens Inspector Allan O’Hare, from the Johnstone, Renfrew and the villages community policing team, said: “We are investigating after an elderly Lochwinnoch couple were targeted in a sophisticated telephone scam. “A man with a foreign accent called and was able to gain their bank details after providing a plausible story to the victims. “A loan for a substantial amount of money was taken out in their name.“They were then asked the transfer the money to another account before bank staff stepped in.”He added: “I want to make people aware of this scam and urge people to remain on guard.“A bank will never ask for you account details over the phone. “If you are ever asked for this information hang up.
