Ayr nursing assistant on trial for attempted murder was not allowed to work unsupervised

A nursing assistant accused of attempting to murder elderly patients was not allowed to work alone. Calum Knox, 31, allegedly tried to kill Susan Reid, 73, while she was receiving end-of-life care at Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock on July 18, 2018.

Prosecutors claim he exposed Susan to the “risk of aspiration” by removing Susan’s oxygen mask and poured liquid into her mouth.

Knox, of Ayr, denies attempting to murder Susan at the High Court in Paisley.
