Nermina, one of the stars of the glitzy reality show The Real Housewives of Cheshire, and her family lived constantly under threat of bullets and bombs from the Serbian army when war broke out after returning to her home city with her parents Hashima and Edin Mekic for her grandfather's funeral.
Staying in her grandmother Hatidza's small two-bedroom house the family remained in the basement for safety, except to use the bathroom or kitchen, and there were no lights at night.
