The woman, who was in her 70s, was rushed to hospital after a blaze broke out at her ground floor property on Broom Lane on Monday afternoon (March 22).

Neighbours raced to help her as smoke billowed out from the windows of the flat just after 3pm. She was taken to hospital having suffered critical injuries.

The woman has now sadly died, police have said. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and a file has been passed to the coroner, the force added.
