Wigan pub has been forced to close after breaching coronavirus regulations, a council said. The Black Bull, on Market Street, Standish, was served a direction notice by Wigan town hall and Greater Manchester Police under new powers granted by updated Covid-19 regulations.

The closure will be reviewed within the next seven days. Coun Paul Prescott, Wigan Council's cabinet member for planning and environmental services, said: “While the majority of businesses have implemented measures to keep their customers and staff safe, closures like this act as a reminder to those who don’t abide by the rules and regulations.
