The Trotters were relegated last season when the League One table was calculated via a points per game model after the campaign at that level was curtailed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Bolton have been playing in the fourth tier of English football this season for the first time since 1987. The bookmakers installed Wanderers as among the pre-season favourites for the League Two crown, but Bolton sit 20th in the table heading into this evening's clash at Morecambe.

Evatt has confirmed discussions are ongoing with the club's board and owners Football Ventures (Whites) Ltd about plans for which division Wanderers will be playing in the 2021/22 campaign.
