Sci Zhen Xie drove to the man's house in Salford after wrongly believing that his wife had been unfaithful. She was friends with the victim, a widower, and had been helping his three children with some school work because he had difficulties with English.
Xie's children and the victim's kids would sometimes play together. But one Tuesday evening Xie, 42, turned up at his home and knocked on his door while he was preparing food for his family, Manchester Crown Court heard. "Where's my wife?," Xie asked in Mandarin. He realised Xie was armed with an eight-inch kitchen knife, as he accused him of having an affair with his wife. Xie then struck out at him with the knife, to his hand and arm, then slashed him to his chest.
