Rebekah Vardy's agent Caroline Watt is "likely" to have dropped her phone in the sea on purpose, Mrs Justice Karen Steyn said in her Wagatha Christie ruling.

The judge made the comment in the written ruling handed down on Friday 29 July, which revealed that Rebekah has lost her libel case against Coleen Rooney.

Rebekah launched her legal case in July 2020 and in August 2021, the court ordered an inspection of Caroline's phone and the messages she sent to her client and two reporters at the Sun.

Caroline was unable to supply the messages and the court was told it had "fallen into the North Sea during a boat trip”. In the court ruling today, Justice Steyn said: "The incident in which Ms Watt’s phone is said to have been lost at sea occurred in August 2021. "On 4 August 2021, the CCMC had taken place at which an order requiring her device to be inspected had been made. "The timing is striking.
