Thousands of Paisley homes left with no power after firebugs torch substation

Paisley were left in darkness after firebugs torched an electrical substation. Firefighters rushed to Montrose Road after a deliberate wheelie bin fire spread to the substation in the Foxbar street.Almost 2,000 homes surrounding the SP Energy Network stations were left with no power to their homes in what the electricity giant has branded a “foolish act of vandalism”.The blaze caused extensive damage to the electrical stations, with almost 100 homes being left without power until yesterday morning.Nearby Montrose Care Home was also left without any power, and SP Energy Networks had to supply a generator until it could be restored.Repair works are currently taking place at the substation to repair the extensive damage caused.Scottish Fire.
