Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage (born March 5, 1963), better known by his stage name Joe Exotic, is an American former zoo operator, internet personality, musician, and convicted felon. The former owner and operator of the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park (a.k.a. G. W. Zoo) in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Maldonado-Passage had claimed to be the most prolific breeder of tigers in the United States. He twice unsuccessfully ran for public office, first for President of the United States in 2016 as an independent, and then for Governor of Oklahoma in 2018 as a Libertarian.

Exotic — the 57-year-old mullet-sporting roadside zookeeper (now a convicted felon) and bizarro social media sensation, to put it lightly — has become the focus of much Internet attention.

The feeding frenzy has only intensified as the seven-episode docuseries became the most streamed show on Netflix in America while many remain home in coronavirus lockdown.
