The 1960s London legend 'Soho George', 80, who still wears dapper suits and struts around the West End

It's a stop on his daily four-mile walk around Soho, which he says "keeps me alive". He looks ridiculously cool in his Italian-style suit which he designed himself and which was made by his local tailor Tony Phillips, who has been dressing Soho celebs for 50 years.

His accent is unmistakably Cockney but he's surprisingly quietly spoken and humble, with cool steady eyes behind tinted glasses as he delves into his earliest memories.

He tells me was born in Brick Lane in 1943 near the Beigel Bakery - a traditional Jewish bakery. Every Sunday lunch time he he was sent down there by his mum to buy a dozen beigels (Jewish spelling) and some platt sauce.
