The return of Strictly Come Dancing is almost upon us after a launch date of September 17 was announced. The 20th series of the Saturday evening TV staple looks set to mark the occasion in style, after the themed weeks were also confirmed.
Among them will be a brand new special celebrating the very best of the BBC. This is to commemorate 100 years of the broadcaster, following various other centenary celebrations to have taken place this year.
Couples will either dance to an iconic BBC theme tune or pay tribute to one of their most-loved services. We can already envisage Arsenal legend Tony Adams grooving to the Match of the Day track and EastEnders’ James Bye showing his finest paso doble face over the soap's classic cliff-hanger ending. One will be dedicated to the BBC’s natural history programming while the other will see Strictly’s pros ‘crash’ some of the BBC’s flagship shows.However, we await to discover how deep into the series the BBC 100 special will take place.
