Kaye Adams has suffered a bizarre Strictly Come Dancing injury during rehearsals for the BBC dance competition. The presenter is one of the celebrities who will be hoping to take home the glitter ball trophy this year, competing against fellow famous faces such as Kym Marsh, Will Mellor and comedian Jayde Adams.

Unfortunately, Kaye was left with a truly unusual ailment this week. Sharing a photo of the palm of her hand looking red and sore on Instagram, the 59 year old Loose Women host wrote: “First Strictly injury." She then revealed the cause, telling fans it was "overenthusiastic clapping".

Kaye has also revealed how the Strictly rehearsals have been interfering with her sleep routine, as she quipped on Twitter: “Struggled to sleep last night after the first day of Strictly rehearsals.Tried to count sheep but couldn't get past 5, 6, 7, 8.” The complete Stricitly line-up was officially announced in August and training was soon underway.

Other contestants taking to the dancefloor including Helen Skelton, EastEnders' James Bye and former footballer Tony Adams. Fleur East, Molly Rainford, Ellie Taylor and Matt Goss will be joining them, along with the BBC's Hamza Yassin, Tyler West, Ellie Simmonds, Jayde Adams and Radio 2's Richie Anderson.
