Strictly's Dianne Buswell says family news was reason for emotional on-screen moment

Dianne Buswell has revealed the reason why she became emotional on Strictly Come Dancing last week.The 34-year-old and her celebrity dance partner Bobby Brazier scored 30 points for their Tango to Fashion by David Bowie, but in the post-performance interview, she became emotional.The Strictly pro struggled to hold back the tears which sparked concern among fans and viewers.

When pressed by the show host Claudia Winkleman, Dianne said that 20-year-old Bobby had been her "rock" after an "emotional week." Now Dianne, who joined the BBC dancing series in 2017, has shared the reason she became emotional with fans.

Revealing details about her personal life in a Q&A on her YouTube channel, she had received many messages asking if she was ok.

She said: "I thought I would be very upfront and honest with you all. Last week I got some news about my dad’s health and I won’t go into detail, but obviously that affected me. "Being away from home and not being able to support and help your family in a time of need is quite a difficult thing so I did struggle a little bit last week in terms of that." Dianne’s family had plans to head to the UK for Christmas and watch her on Strictly but she said that wouldn’t be happening now.
