Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Steven Gerrard was sickened by a late Bayer Leverkusen sucker-punch as Rangers' Europa League dreams were dealt a hammer blow.

The Ibrox boss bemoaned Matt Polster 's failure to "take one for the team" and wipe out Leon Bailey before he curled in a decisive third to take full control of the Europa League last 16 tie.

Leverkusen leave Ibrox as firm favourites to progress to the quarter-final ahead of next Thursday's closed door second leg.Gerrard felt his side competed for long periods but rued the American full-back's defending.

He told BT Sport: "At 2-1, you're still thinking it's not the end of the world, if we stay in their we might get a late equaliser."But we're extremely disappointed with the third.
