Sir Alex Ferguson has helped unveil a statue of Manchester United legend Denis Law in his hometown of Aberdeen. The former United striker spent 11 years at the club, making 404 league appearances and scoring 237 goals.

Law, 81, was born and raised in Aberdeen and has resided back in the city since retiring - speaking on his love for the Granite City throughout his life.

Sir Alex Ferguson, who coached Aberdeen to title success before being appointed by Manchester United, joined Law and family at the unveiling of the four-and-a-half-tonne statue, just off Broad Street in the city centre.

Sculptor Alan Herriot designed the bronze statue, planted on a granite base, and shows Law celebrating a famous United goal with his arm raised.
