Sinkhole appearance remains a mystery as warning is issued to Ayrshire drivers

Ayrshire road could be closed for weeks while engineers try to get to the bottom of a problematic sinkhole that has appeared.An emergency closure of the B7081 between Springside and Dreghorn was sanctioned after the crater emerged last Wednesday afternoon.Nobody was injured and no vehicles were damaged as the tarmac caved in.An initial reopening of October 1 was given for the village’s Main Road to but those working on the repair won't commit to a date for the route to be used again.However, It’s understood that the vital road, used by Ayrshire’s busiest bus service, could be closed for up to two more weeks.Stagecoach's number 11 hasn't been serving Springside or Crosshouse since Wednesday but has been able to head to Crosshouse.
