Seven refugees were discovered huddled in the back of a delivery van in the early hours of this morning. All of the people found in the refrigerated lorry, which contained crates of sparkling water, were said to be “fit and well” but were arrested and taken to custody to be processed by immigration officials.
The HGV was pulled after several members of the public had reported that they had heard banging coming from the trailer in slow-moving traffic on the M1.
The Home Office have today issued a statement saying that they are “determined” to go after those responsible for smuggling the seven people discovered in the vehicle.
