the discredited Offensive Behaviour at Football act, a Labour MSP has warned. James Kelly said he had "serious reservations" about the proposed legislation, which SNP ministers claim will modernise and consolidate existing hate crime laws.
The Glasgow MSP believes elements of the new law aimed at preventing "stirring up hatred" could see people prosecuted for expressing religious views.
Kelly previously led a campaign which saw a controversial law aimed at tackling sectarian behaviour at football axed in 2018 after winning cross-party support.
