The Scottish Government could face fresh scrutiny from the competitions watchdog after it emerged a contract worth over £750,000 was awarded to firm outwith normal tendering procedures.The order - from the Scottish Government-owned Ferguson Marine - was handed to Kirkintilloch-based Alliance Project Controls to oversee work on two ferries under construction which are behind schedule and over-budget at the Clyde yard.Ferguson was nationalised by Holyrood after a swathe of problems emerged on the ferries, which are bound for the government-backed CalMac ferry operator.Ferguson - formerly owned by tycoon Jim McColl - was rescued by the government after it refused to plough more cash into the then private firm.But the Scottish Govertnment has
