Scottish football's Russia blackout as SFA and SPFL show Ukraine broadcast support

Scottish football will not be broadcast in Russia as the SFA and SPFL stand united in their support for Ukraine.Russia's invasion of their neighbour has received widespread condemnation and several big companies have ceased operations in the country.Scottish Cup and SPFL fixtures will now no longer be shown in the country as a mark of solidarity with Ukraine.Scotland's national team were due to face off against the Ukrainians in World Cup play-off semi-final action this month.But the game has been postponed until this summer.An SFA statement reads: "The Scottish FA and Scottish Professional Football League can confirm they have instructed their respective broadcast partners to suspend feeds of all domestic league and cup competitions in Russia for the foreseeable future, in light of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine."As a result, there will be a blackout of Scottish Cup fixtures from this weekend’s quarter- finals and from all SPFL competitions including cinch Premiership, cinch Championship, Premier Sports Cup and SPFL Trust Trophy."Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onTwitter via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
