Daily Record. The first email, sent to a leading criminal investigator, claimed to be from Montguire’s wife but was sent from his own email address.The email claims Montguire was convicted due to a police witch-hunt and corruption, and alleges witnesses were rewarded financially by police officers.

It goes on to claim police ignored evidence proving his innocence and gave houses to witnesses for the prosecution. The email author claimed Montguire has suffered heart attacks trying to clear his name and would take a “lie detector test or truth syrup”.It adds: “He can arrange for you to meet witnesses who were warned not to disclose things in his defence by law chiefs.”The first email was unsigned but in acknowledgement the second email was.
