St Andrews have been left stunned after a local stream turned bright orange.The Kinness Burn was left the unusual shade following days of heavy snowfall and rain in the area, although the exact cause of the discolouration is unknown.Environmental officers have now launched an investigation into the phenomenon, which may be the result of water from historic mine works.Some locals have since dubbed the water the 'Irn Bru Burn' due to its similarity in colour to the famous fizzy drink.
While others say it resembles the chocolate river in Willie Wonka and Chocolate Factory film after photographs and video of the strange phenomenon were posted on social media.
