Scotland facing killer mosquito invasion as humid weather creates 'perfect breeding ground'

weather has made Scotland the perfect breeding ground for killer mosquitoes. Experts fear beasties that carry the lethal Zika rictus will mate with our native ones and cause mayhem.These creatures may even be joined by the Asian Tiger mosquito, whose bite can pass on 23 infections.

While Scotland usually only has midges to deal with, hot temperatures followed by rain mean mosquitoes could move north. With millions of holidaymakers opting for staycations this summer, these insects will have plenty of targets, the Daily Star reports.

Mosquito expert Howard Carter, said said that there will be an “unexpectedly high number of mosquitoes” in the UK.He added: "I have seen the Zika ones myself north of Chichester in West Sussex.
