Getting a shout-out from Oprah is a huge deal for any author and pretty much a mark of success. So there are some pretty happy authors this side of the Atlantic at the moment as a staggering 25 books by Irish authors have been recommended in the latest edition of the chat show queen’s O magazine.

The books were chosen as part of a definitive Irish books list in an article by Michelle Darisaw that pays tribute to some of our best-loved authors including James Joyce (Dubliners), Maeve Binchy (A Week In Winter), and Roddy Doyle (The Barrytown Trilogy).

Also included on the list were some more contemporary hits like Eimear McBride’s A Girl Is A Half-Formed Thing and not forgetting What A Complete Aisling by Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen.
