SAG-AFTRA Condemns Will Smith's Actions at Oscars - Read the Statement
justjared.comSAG-AFTRA has released a statement in response to the incident between Will Smith and Chris Rock on the Oscars stage.
As you probably know by now, Chris was presenting and made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith.
After she seemed upset by the joke, Will jumped on stage and slapped the comedian in the face, then returned to his seat and shouted profanities at him.
Many organizations have already spoken out on the matter, including the Academy and even the LAPD. Now, SAG-AFTRA, the union that represents actors (including last night’s presenters), is speaking out. Click inside to read the statement from SAG-AFTRA… “As the union representing presenters and other performers working on the Oscars, SAG-AFTRA is focused on ensuring our members always work in a safe environment,” SAG-AFTRA said in a statement (via THR). “Violence or physical abuse in the workplace is never appropriate and the union condemns any such conduct.
