Russia Banned From Eurovision Song Contest Over Ukraine Invasion

This year’s Eurovision Song Contest will be down one big competitor. On Friday, the European Broadcasting Union, who organize the contest, announced that Russia has been banned from this year’s competition over the country declaring war on Ukraine. The decision reflects concern that, in light of the unprecedented crisis in Ukraine, the inclusion of a Russian entry in this year’s Contest would bring the competition into disrepute.
