A RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant has been disqualified over multiple allegations he “catfished” men.

Just one episode into season 12, RuPaul's Drag Race is facing some controversy.  Contestant Sherry Pie, real name Joey Gugliemelli, has been disqualified from the competition after multiple catfishing claims, which he then admitted to and apologized for in a statement of his own. Sherry Pie will make her debut in tonight's episode.  "In light of recent developments and Sherry Pie's statement, Sherry Pie has been disqualified from RuPaul's Drag Race," said a spokesperson for VH1 and World of Wonder.

Jaws dropped when the RuPaul’s Drag Race Twitter account announced that Sherry Pie, 27, was disqualified from season 12 on Friday, March 6, only hours before the New York City queen was set to make her debut on the show. They did this after several men shared stories of Sherry allegedly pretending to be a casting director where they would send her embarrassing audition tapes of themselves saying and doing degrading things.

Following allegations against Sherry Pie for catfishing and exploiting at least five actors over several years, RuPaul's Drag Race announced Friday (March 6) that the season 12 contestant has been disqualified from the competition.
