Swedish pop auteur Robyn has confirmed that she is currently working on her next album, due for release sometime this year. Taking to Twitter, Robyn announced the cancellation of several live dates this summer, but hinted that she simply needed more time to work on her upcoming record.
No details about the album have been released yet, but it would be Robyn's sixth full-length solo release, and the first new material from her since 2018's Honey. "There are many exciting things to come," she said in a statement. "And even if it is taking a little longer, I can't wait to reunite with you as soon as my new album is ready." Robyn has had a varied career since breaking through as a teen pop star in the late 90s, releasing material written and produced by Britney Spears hitmaker Max Martin.
Since the mid-2000s, her re-emergence as an indie-pop starlet has proved to be highly influential. Her 2008 single Dancing On My Own was highly acclaimed by critics, and has served as inspiration to acts like Katy Perry and Dua Lipa.
Take a look at Robyn's Top 10 biggest songs on the Official Charts here. Her most recent release, Honey peaked at Number 21 on the Official Albums Chart in 2018, her fourth Top 40 record.
