Greene King announced earlier this week that it would be selling pints for 6p a pop to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Unfortunately, licencing laws means the pub chain will in fact be unable to sell pints at this price - the same price in 1952 when the Queen took the crown.

However, the chain has announced that it will instead be passing out pints for free. The deal will only be valid for today so drinkers will have to move fast to get their free pint. "We thought this was a great way to celebrate this remarkable occasion and we’ve been thrilled at the response from customers. "However, we have some good news for everyone, which is that we will now be giving the Jubilee first pint of Greene King IPA away free of charge today, as we now understand it’s not permissible under the licensing act to charge the 6p. "Just remember to use the keyword '1952' and check whether your local pub is running the offer plus further details at greeneking-pubs.co.uk/my-local.

Cheers everyone.” These are the places you can get a cheap pint in Greater Manchester according to the Greene King website here : Click here for the latest headlines from the Manchester Evening News
