direct to your inboxPrisoners being locked up in their cells for up to 28 hours at a time at a jail in in Cheshire is a "serious concern", an inspectorate report says.Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Prisons carried out a scrutiny inspection at HMP Risley in Warrington last Autumn.Its report, published today (Tuesday) says the category C men's prison, which has over 1,000 inmates, is "well-led" and and has "continued to make progress" despite the COVID-19 pandemic.It had two significant outbreaks of the virus, one at the start of the pandemic with another affecting the prison's G wing back in September.And management and staff "worked effectively, in partnership with health care staff and Public Health England" to control these, the report.
