Premier League confirm permanent matchday squad change with substitutes

Clubs were permitted to name 20-man matchday squads for the restart of the 2019-20 season last June before benches were reduced back down to seven players for the start of 2020-21.

However, clubs voted in favour of increasing benches back to nine players in December of last year for the rest of the season and the Premier League handbook for 2021-22 has clarified it will stay at nine substitutes.
