Manchester United and Liverpool were the driving force behind a proposal to revitalise English football. The plans aimed to reshape the finances of the game and would have seen the Premier League hand out a £250million rescue package to the English Football League to help clubs navigate the coronavirus crisis.Alongside this, the League Cup and Community Shield would have both been scrapped, with the controlling power of the Premier League handed to the division’s biggest clubs.While there was support from EFL clubs for the financial proposals, many of the reforms were considered nothing more than a power grab by England’s top six clubs.And the Premier League have now confirmed that the planned reforms have been rejected following a meeting.
