Ian Evatt says Bolton Wanderers were well aware that Kyle Dempsey was not fully 100% fit when he made the January move but believes the transfer enabled him to integrate into the club and has come back flying in pre-season.

The 26-year-old joined Wanderers on transfer deadline day in January from Gillingham. The former Huddersfield Town man went on to play 11 times for his new club in the second half of the previous campaign.

But Dempsey was in an out of the team at Wanderers as injuries limited the impact he was able to make. It followed on from a knee operation which came towards the end of his time with the Gills. He impressed in the first half of the 9-0 pre-season friendly win over Longridge Town and got on the scoresheet. Evatt admits Wanderers knew they were not getting a Dempsey at the peak of his fitness in January owing to injuries.
