Pippa Middleton has appeared to give a subtle but sweet nod to the Royal Family with her newborn daughter’s name. It was reported earlier this month that the Duchess of Cambridge’s sister, 38, had given birth to her third child, and has gone on to name the tot Rose.
According to experts the moniker comes from a Latin word and the meaning refers to a flower. “It derives from the Latin word rosa, meaning ‘a flower’.
It is thought to originally be the Norman form of the Germanic name Hrodohaidis, meaning ‘famous type’.The Normans introduced it in England with the forms Roese and Rohese.” While those with the family name Rose is a link to where they lived, in particular a place where “wild roses grew or a habitational name for someone living at a house bearing the sign of the rose”.
Roses are also June’s birth month flower – the same month Pippa’s thought to have given birth to her newest arrival. In addition to this, the name is thought to have links to her in-laws as many royals had also been named Rose.
