Pet owners and families speak up about trauma caused by noisy fireworks

A Perthshire animal lover has appealed for people to share their stories of pets terrified by fireworks having been flooded by accounts of suffering triggered by a succession of nights filled with explosions.

Katie McCandless-Thomas runs Missing Pets, Perth and Kinross Scotland, an online service on Facebook which tries to find animals that get lost.

A dog and cat owner herself, Katie has a network of volunteer 'finders' and even uses infra red devices to track pets in darkness.

She told the PA: “It’s been the busiest time of the year for us with missing pets. There was one dog on November 5 and three on November 6 that fled directly as a result of all the bangs.
