Perthshire dog rescue centre expecting an influx of pets who've grown up with owners always at home

Perthshire Abandoned Dogs Society (PADS) is bracing itself for an influx of pets bought in lockdown which their owners can no longer cope with.The warning of difficult times to come and an increase in residents at the Forteviot kennels coincides with new figures released by the Scottish SPCA.The animal welfare organisation reported a 134 per cent increase in people looking to give up unwanted animals.In the past four months (September 2020 to December 2020), Scotland’s animal welfare charity received 476 calls from people looking to rehome their animals.This compares to 205 calls in the same period in 2019/20.Calls about unwanted dogs increased by 103 per cent from 105 to 213.
