'Chariots of Fire' star Ben Cross dead at 72
Actor Ben Cross has died, aged 72.The Chariots of Fire star passed away in Vienna, Austria on Tuesday.Born Harry Bernard Cross in London in 1947, he won the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art’s prestigious Vanbrugh prize for Performance of the Year and became an in-demand stage and screen star, making his big screen debut in 1977 war film A Bridge Too Far.He also found success onstage as Billy Flynn in Chicago, but Cross is best known for his roles as British Olympic athlete Harold Abrahams in Chariots Of Fire and as Sarek in 2009’s Star Trek reboot.Notable credits also include roles in the BBC’s The Citadel, HBO spy film Steal The Sky, TV mini-series Twist Of Fate, and he played the villain, opposite Richard Gere and Sean Connery, in First
