One of north Manchester's oldest buildings is up for sale

Hough Hall in Moston is thought to be more than 500-years-old. But the derelict timber-framed farm house has stood empty for a number of years and is in desperate need of repair.

It's up for auction on October 14 with a guide price of £150,000. The estate agents describe it as being in a 'dilapidated condition' but say the hall could be converted into six flats with 12 new houses built on the surrounding land.Campaigners had hoped the hall could be converted into a museum or community centre.But Douglas Inchbold, one of those campaigners, said a sale to a developer or a private buyer willing to save it was probably the best option currently available.He said: "If it was conserved and used as flats that would be really good, but I cannot.
