Newcastle are keen to sign Manchester United target Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid, according to reports. In a seismic £305million deal, the Magpies have new owners after a consortium backed by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF) struck up an agreement with now-former chairman Mike Ashley.
It's a takeover which is set to see Newcastle emerge as major players in the transfer market moving forward. However, in the first instance, their priority is to strengthen during the January window with a view to preserving their Premier League status for next season - and newly-appointed manager Eddie Howe had identified Trippier as his number one port of call in that regard.
