Barely a third of Scots who care for a loved one feel supported enough to continue with their role, a report has found. A survey by Public Health Scotland found that just 34.3 per cent of carers agreed that they received enough help to keep going.
That figure compared to 43 per cent in 2013/14, with the figure consistently falling since then. The report focuses on carers who look after relatives and friends, rather than those employed directly by local authorities.
The figures emerged in a Public Health Scotland report which includes findings from a health and care experience survey.It asked people across all local authority areas if they felt “supported to continue in their caring role”.The figures were uncovered by Scotland in Union.Chief
