Mel Gibson ‘Spent a Week in the Hospital’ With Coronavirus in April

Mel Gibson quietly battled the novel coronavirus earlier this year and has since made a full recovery.“He tested positive in April and spent a week in the hospital,” the actor’s rep told The Daily Telegraph on Thursday, July 23. “He was treated with the drug Remdesivir, while in the hospital, and has tested negative numerous times since then as well as positive for the antibodies.”Remdesivir is the first drug that has shown to be effective against the coronavirus.

The drug’s manufacturer, Gilead Sciences, announced in June that it would be sold to hospitals for $520 per vial or $3,120 per treatment course for patients with private insurance.
