Martin Lewis is urging Universal Credit claimants who were turned down or received a reduced award for the benefit over the last year to apply again.
Writing in the latest issue of the MoneySavingExpert.com newsletter, the consumer champion explained how many people may have had a decision go against them due to the amount of savings they or their partner had at the time of the application.
Some six million people across the UK are currently claiming Universal Credit, a benefit designed to help those out of work or on a low income cover the costs of daily living, but when you make an application, your savings can have a huge impact on how much, if any, benefit you’re entitled to.
